Frequently Asked Questions
How long is my quote valid for?
Our Quotes are valid for 7 calendar days but you can update your quote or get a new one at any time.
Please, keep in mind that this is a very dynamic market and rates change on a weekly basis. This is why we cannot provide a quote that is valid for longer than 7 calendar days. We believe in fair pricing and want to give you the most accurate price. You can always contact one of our experienced car shipping advisors via phone at (864) 249-4838 to get a new car shipping quote and speed up the process of your shipment.
Is my vehicle insured during car transport?
Your vehicle is covered under the motor carrier’s insurance policy from the time of pick up to the time of delivery. Our company always pre-screens the motor carrier to ensure to check that it meets the insurance requirements of the U.S. Department of Transport (DOT) regulations.
How much your vehicle will be insured for depends on the motor carrier’s coverage, the type of trailer, and the value of the vehicle. Usually, open car carriers have cargo insurance coverage between $100,000 and $150,000. Enclosed car carriers offer cargo insurance between $250,000 and $3,000,000. We will provide you with the carrier's certificate of insurance upon request.
Hawaii vehicle shipments are subject to the ocean freight liners' insurance limitation so please contact one of our experienced car shipping advisors via phone at (864) 249-4838 in order to learn more.
Can I ship personal items in my car?
Yes, you can have up to 100 lbs in the trunk/cargo area of the vehicle .Items must be contained to a single box or suitcase. However, if you'd like to load more personal items, you will need to provide the estimated weight of the items and we will provide you with an all-inclusive price. Both front seats and the front seat floorboards must remain empty and free of any personal items to avoid damage during transportation.
The backseat must also remain empty unless you've received an all-inclusive rate for items to be placed there. Please, keep in mind per the Department of Transportation (DOT), we're not allowed to ship anything outside of the vehicle on an open transport trailer. You can ship items (additional engine, transmission, etc.) outside of the vehicle but they must be crated and can only be shipped with an enclosed auto transport trailer.
Land shipments - when you ship your vehicle on land all of the above information is valid in regards to shipping personal items.
Hawaii car transport shipments - when you ship your vehicle from/to Hawaii you are not allowed to ship any personal items inside the vehicle.
If any are found the port will refuse the shipment. If you have any specific requests for shipping personal items please don't hesitate to contact one of our experienced car shipping advisors via phone at (864) 249-4838.
How long will the shipping process take?
The length of time it takes to ship one’s vehicle entirely depends on several different factors. These include the pickup and dropoff locations, the total travel distance (the further distance, the longer it will take), and time of the year.
In addition, those who live in more rural areas further from main highways and dropoff terminals will take longer to transport as well, as carriers will have to go more out of their way to transport your car.
Poor weather conditions, such as snow or rain storms, will further slowdown carriers, so expect deliveries to take a few more days than typical in such conditions.
How to choose a car shipping company?
Your due diligence should include looking at customer reviews online to find out about people’s experiences with the company. Do some comparison shopping and look at rates and services that are offered, and remember that rates that sound too low are almost always going to mean a compromise in service and performance. Language on the company’s website should be clear and transparent. Find out about the company’s insurance coverage and dollar amounts, and look into the status of their permits and registrations with the USDOT and US Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
How can I pay less for shipping?
Axis Auto Logistics runs specials and discounts on a regular basis - check back on our website to see if any are available or coming up. In addition, there are calendar periods when shipping rates will be higher, due to an increase in the volume of orders that we handle. Rates will then come back down again after that surge - if you need additional clarity, give us a call at (864) 249-4838.
